Missile from Yemen intercepted over Saudi capital

There has been a lot going on in the Kingdom. There has been a big move to consolidate the power of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman along with some reforms.

Saudi Arabia arrests 11 princes, including billionaire Alwaleed bin Talal

Saudi Arabia announced the arrest Saturday (Nov 4) night of prominent billionaire investor Prince Alwaleed bin Talal, plus at least 10 other princes, four ministers and tens of former ministers.

Everyone heard about the women driving but that was only part of the changes.

Hard to tell where all of this is headed but the temperature seems to be heating up.

I'd be interested to know the who/what/why behind it all. Is there anything to the "modernization" aspect or is it all just a Game of Thrones?

My best guess is both. There is a new more powerful king but a more kind and benevolent one.

That is the image they are trying to portray at least on the domestic front what worries me is the Sunni Shia proxy war is expanding.

This guy seems have the same concerns.

The proxy war is an existential power struggle. It's an entrenched, cold war mentality, and probably not the best barometer of the social and political intentions of the Saudi crown prince.

Doesn't seem to existential to me...It looks like a real shooting war. And it looks like the King to be is getting ready to kick into second gear.

Yeah that's kind of what happens when you spend months bombing water treatment plants and hospitals in another country, eventually they try to fire back.
