Manafort Indicted

quote [ President Donald Trump's campaign chairman, Paul Manafort, and Manafort's former business associate Rick Gates were indicted and told to surrender to federal authorities on Monday.

Manafort walked into the FBI's field office with his lawyer Kevin Downing in Washington, DC, at about 8:15 a.m. on Monday. An FBI agent greeted him and his lawyer as they entered the building. ]

Nice vetting by the trump campaign. 31 page indictment doc, and some of these charges go back 10 years. The WH has been told not to interfere. Expect a flurry of trump "HILARRY STOLE MY COVFEFE WARGHARBLE!!1!" tweets.

If you live near a high level Trump Adviser or campaign runner, tomorrow morning would be a great time to get back at them for all those smug leers they've thrown your way every day since last November... by pounding on their door at 6 AM and screaming "FBI! Open up!", and seeing if they jump out the window, or have a heart attack right there in bed.

The Paul Manafort and Rick Gates indictments were filed partly due to a statue of limitation concern Four sources told NBC News that there was a statute of limitations issue in play that may have helped drive Monday's charges by Mueller.

The charges are dead bang by the way..not based on whiteness testimony but on numbers and bank records..they got em.

I may be reading to much into this but The Papadopoulos deal wasn't released until after the Whitehouse statement about no collusion. The most impressive thing about that is the emails...emails... here we go again.
eggboy said @ 11:20pm GMT on 30th Oct
Looks like Mueller already got Papadopoulos to sing ages ago. I think it's just a race now to see which one, Manafort or Gates will squeal on the other first.

So this Papadopoulos has been the most damning thing I've read, I'll admit.

It was brought to me by a good friend that is dyed in the wool all about the Russian conspiracy theory. I don't see why the media hasn't jumped on it.

I don't know why you (bbq) don't lead with this and let it speak for itself.

I'm interested to see where this angle goes.
eggboy said @ 12:38am GMT on 31st Oct
I think it's just going to get more and more damning as it unfolds. The retards and Russians will be out in force all over the internet tomorrow screamin Podesta, but I hope the investigation nets cunts on both sides. This is a good opportunity to clean house, Trump might accidentally drain the swamp by bringing down anyone connected to him as well as anyone else who gets uncovered doing some unrelated corrupt shit. Mueller has free reign to investigate and charge anything that pops up remember.

Until Trump fires Sessions I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt that he personally didn't betray his country, at least not intentionally. That's not saying they won't still get him for doing something stupid to protect his kids. If he fires Sessions tho he's fucken guilty.
Kama-Kiri said @ 1:53am GMT on 31st Oct
It proves the Russians where behind the DNC hacks / wikipedia leak and were very interested to release the damaging info they had on HRC in coordination with the Trump campaign.

What we don't have, not yet, not quite yet, is proof that the Trump campaign was actively coordinating with, or asking the Russians for help, only that the Russians wanted to assist, were willing and able to assist, and were assisting on their own.

Though it must be a forgone conclusion. Simply because Trump would not, could not refuse anything that would give him an edge in such a tight race.

So, yeah, President Pence I guess.
norok said @ 2:16am GMT on 31st Oct
No it doesn't.

I still remain more trustful of Assange who said it was not a state actor that released them. He's my kind of techno libertarian. We have the same values. I trust his past actions.

When I bring that up the common reframe is "Assange is a Russian puppet." Maybe I just have a better memory back to the 2000's when Leftists loved Assange.
foobar said @ 2:29am GMT on 31st Oct
Then you haven't been paying attention.

Not that I can particularly blame him for becoming a Russian patsy after having been locked in an embassy closet for five years.
Kama-Kiri said[1] @ 4:08am GMT on 31st Oct
Maybe this is reaching, but I hold that Assange is basically an independent actor, he took the leaked emails for wikileaks as he took the data from Snowden and other sources -- without asking too many questions or probing too deeply other than to verify the authenticity.

Presumably the Russians would have fed the into to him indirectly, along with a credible cover story as to who the hacker was - which he swallowed.
foobar said @ 4:27am GMT on 31st Oct
No, he's pretty anti-DNC these days. I mean, it's hard to blame him, given what Obama did to him.

The Russian conspiracy theory started as the obfuscation for the DNC leaked emails. By and large it worked to both distract from the corruption within the DNC and stiffling Bernie Sander's campaign. It worked so well, and was enjoyed by so many Democrats, that it was continued through the inauguration to it's present role as a de-legitimization strategy.

If some charges come down against Trump himself then I'm willing to change my mind. The believers, on the other hand, hold no such objectivity. They are too emotionally invested in the denial phase of Trump's victory.

Expect this to be kept up by the media all the way til 2020 regardless of any future investigation progress.
Taxman said @ 12:42am GMT on 31st Oct
Only if charges come down will you believe ANYTHING illegal happened?

If there are no charges, then the whole thing is a made up, 100% conspiracy?

If charges do come down, you're WILLING to change your mind?

Just wanted to clarify the "center-left's" viewpoint.
norok said @ 2:14am GMT on 31st Oct
That's the problem with opening one self up for objectivity against a side that has no intention of doing likewise. The conspiracy theorists HATE Trump. That's not going to change. They will never give him a pass.

Illegal will get him impeached. But that's not really necessary here. What's important is to push the Russian conspiracy theory to deligitimize and make Democrats feel better about the loss. They didn't really lose, because Russia.

The Center Left in America was eviscerated in the first Democratic Primary debate in 2016. You won't see any centrist party in American politics for the forseeable future.
foobar said @ 2:31am GMT on 31st Oct

So now I'm curious. What are you boxing up a "The Russian Conspiracy"?

1. That Russia did not conspire to influence the election?

or

2. That Trump's campaign colluded with Russia to influence the election?

as while I can understand 2. still having room for speculation, to my mind 1. at this point is beyond the realm of reasonable doubt.
bbqkink said @ 7:09pm GMT on 30th Oct
Are you ready for an update of where I am on Trump?

First; Trump has proved over and over again he is liar. There are websites devoted to counting the lies he tells every day...it is a long read.

President Trump’s list of false and misleading claims tops 1,000

That was in August. The fact that he started with I have never even had Russian Dressing on a salad I have no dealings with Russia, Nobody met with Russians,“Nobody knows” if Russia interfered in the 2016 election., There was no collusion have all been proven lies comes as no surprise.

And if you think this is all dying a slow media death you must not be paying any attention. Hell I could prove "Obstruction of Justice" and as close as I have ever been to a lawyer is watching a lot of Sperry Mason...pretty easy to convict he confessed on national TV.

It looks like you are still like the the president not even able to admit that Russia committed an act of Cyberwarfar on the US and did everything they could do to interfere with out elections...the amount of success has nothing to do with the fact that they did it with intention to cause harm.

The fact that you seem unwilling or unable to see that makes me want to stop right here...no point in talking to a rock. Just curious if you only don't see the Russian attempt here or don't see it around the world?

No, I don't actually think it's dying a slow media death. It's going to continue all the way through 2023 because it's been the most entertaining narrative the media has found.

I would be willing to admit it if charges come against Trump.

But would you be so willing to absolve him and accept his Presidency as legitimate if they do not?
Kama-Kiri said @ 2:09am GMT on 31st Oct
No, same reason I won't absolve Harvey Weinstein even if he never faces a single charge.

I will however excuse Trump as being naive rather than evil, and should Mueller not be able to stick anything on Trump's inner circle I'm willing to let him continue doing his job as president.

Given his recent tweetstorm though, I rather suspect the game is up.

Sorry it took so long to get back to you my modem crapped out.

You are going to have to be more specific...

would be willing to admit it

Admit what? At this time it is not at all certain what Trump is going to get charged with. Obstruction of justice is all but sure...he confessed to it.

“I faced great pressure because of Russia. That’s taken off.”

But just how much of this was orchestrated by him is still in question. It is apparent that he knew about this.

Hours after Donald Trump Jr received Russia emails his father held a press conference promising more dirt on Clinton

Then he personally comes up with the cock and bull story on air force 1...then the story keep getting bigger and changing.

"would you be so willing to absolve him"

Of what?

accept his Presidency as legitimate if they do not?

That has yet to be determined...It is tainted already... legitimate...TBD
Taxman said[2] @ 11:07pm GMT on 30th Oct
For something to be a conspiracy, ultimately, there has to be nothing there. Maybe a lot of things coincidentally line up, maybe people just want it to be true more than it is, but (again) there's nothing to it, no truth to share. I have faith that the truth, either way, will come out. Thankfully, you can't share something that's not there.

*cough*

Hooray for the rule of law. A good reminder that if a politician is claiming an opponent has engaged in criminal activity and there is no legal action being pursued, then they might just be blowing smoke (or fundraising). Trial in the court of public opinion is unnecessary when due process is capable.

Bravo!
