Well, like a lot of things, a lot of it is not very good or very much a matter of taste. It's a relatively modern art form, (assuming you exclude established sub-forms like plays and dancing) and so it has a lot of the characteristics of modern art, for better and for worse.

I wouldn't beat yourself up over it as long as you can express why you think it's stupid in terms more sophisticated than "I don't get it, therefore it's stupid"

I may not know art, but I do know what I like, and I am generally vagina-positive.

Still unknown is how the court would rule on L'Origine du Monde or even myriad odalisques that hang in museums. The former has pubic hair and visible genitalia; the latter seldom have pubic hair, but no visible genitalia. Qui sait, the french and their hang-ups when it comes to sexuality are inscrutable.
