Interesting read. Jerry Garcia being the "greatest guitarist" from San Francisco is highly debatable considering Lindsey Buckingham, John Fogerty, Jerry Horton, and Kirk Hammett, all hail from the Bay-Area.

Yes sir...there was a sizable period where it was unusual when a hot new band DIDN'T come from San Francisco.
