Last of them? Hurricane season runs till November. Matthew hit in October last year.

Saw a long range forecast and they are predicting no more major storms...but that is still predicting weather.

Hard telling where this one is going to end up ...looks like the east cost mid Florida or up the coast even further. It is a guess at this point.

Predictions don't mean shit any more- the patterns have all changed so much that none of the models are worth a damn.

Any SE folks in Puerto Rico?

Just flew over Hispaniola last night, re-route from usual east of PR. We've been threading the needle between storms JFK-Points-South all month long.

Talked to a co-worker on the flight whose mom is in San Juan. She lives in basically a concrete bunker not right on the water, so should be okay. I don't envy them, I've been through my share of hurricanes (east of Nola). In some ways, the aftermath is way more difficult than the storm itself. No power for a week or two makes one a fan of modern conveniences like little else can do.

"Anybody still think Brace for a truly terrible hurricane season was hyperbole?" I assume was aimed at me. Again, telling residents that they 'face certain death' if they don't evacuate is ridiculous hyperbole for any storm in recorded history. Hurricanes aren't asteroid impacts.

NOAA shouldn't dabble in that kind of hyperbole. Chicken-Littleing is not what I'm looking for from them, just facts, I'll take it from there. Pundits, knock yourselves out, I'm used to that from you.

I guess they could have said if you stay it is certain some will die.... But seeing as as it is a warning designed to scare you..they over stated the obvious...
