Google and GoDaddy Drop Neo-Nazi Group's Domain Registration

quote [ Google yanked its web domain support for The Daily Stormer three hours after the neo-Nazi website moved to the search engine’s registry system.
...
The Daily Stormer, a white supremacist website, moved its web domain registry to Google after GoDaddy Operating Co. pulled its services on Sunday. GoDaddy cited Daily Stormer’s support of the "Unite the Right" march in Charlottesville, Virginia, over the weekend that ended in at least one fatality as violating the company’s terms of service. ]

GoDaddy gave them 24 hours to clear out, Google said nonono, but I'm sure they'll find a host. They'll be fine.

Nazi-doxxing is underway:
Charlottesville White Supremacists Begin to Lose Jobs, Web Hosting Platforms

I don't like doxxing, even for nazis, it's just too easy for it to go wrong. Also don't like web hosts monitoring content, but SF was kind of asking for it.

Some people dox themselves:

GoDaddy & Google can't afford to shrug this off, then the story would be all about them. Maybe they'll find a Russian host.

Calling for violence isn't protected speech and you know that.
Fish said @ 11:02pm GMT on 15th Aug
I never said it was.

The Nazis worked out a peaceful protest with the city. The police sat on their hands– go read the account in the New York Times.

Antifa organized the attack online. You may have seen that the DOJ has asked for IP addresses (ahead of a subpoena, one assumes) of those who were communicating on antifa sites.

I ask you: Who came armed to fight (besides the Nazis and others– who had the firepower to unleash a hellstorm)? Who organized a fight in advance? Who wore masks?

Your friends in antifa are not the helpless sorority girls you suppose and portray them to be...
Dienes said @ 4:17pm GMT on 15th Aug
We have literal nazis and white supremists killing people in the street, but sure, the protected classes are the dangerous ones.
Fish said @ 11:03pm GMT on 15th Aug
It's a Constitutional right for anyone to peaceably assemble and say whatever they want. Even people you disagree with.

No one has to listen to them, but no one has the right to silence them.
Dienes said @ 2:51am GMT on 16th Aug
The presence of a protest or counter-protest isn't silencing. Its people exercising their right to assemble and express themselves. Freedom of expression doesn't mean no one can react to the awful shit you say.

You...you don't actually have the right to say whatever you want. You know that, right?
For example, yelling "Fire!" in a crowded theater isn't protected speech. Making death threats isn't protected speech. Running people over with your fucking car isn't protected speech.

Fish said @ 3:46pm GMT on 16th Aug
The Nazis had a permit to protest, secured in advance from the city.

Antifa was organized online in advance of the protest, and did not have a permit; they came with masks and baseball bats. They attacked. The police did not protect the legally assembled protestors. Same thing happened in Chicago (courtesy of Jan Schakowsky's husband with the tacit blessing of the Obama administration) and to Milo, Coulter and others in Berkley.

I find it ironic that a group who claims to be 'anti-fascist' wears masks and enforces their worldview with violence. You might want to examine that point and consider whether you want to be a part of defending them.

Freedom of expression doesn't mean no one can react to the awful shit you say.

As long as their reaction doesn't harm or impede others.

For example, yelling "Fire!" in a crowded theater isn't protected speech. Making death threats isn't protected speech.
This is so obvious as to be condescending. Was I defending people making death threats?

Running people over with your fucking car isn't protected speech.
True. But we learned from Trayvon Martin and Michael Brown that the hot takes from the leftist media are almost universally wrong.

You don't know what happened with that car, and neither do I. Let's let the justice system have him and see what they come up with. I would not be surprised if the driver is guilty of murder. I would also not be surprised if he was fleeing the antifa goons in a panic and (perhaps rightfully) feared for his life.

mechanical contrivance said @ 8:57pm GMT on 14th Aug
I don't mind it. It's not like the Daily Stormer won't find another registrar to use, and I don't think GoDaddy or anyone else should be forced to host a domain if they don't want to.
