Slightly more than half of Republicans say they would support postponing the 2020 presidential election if President Trump proposed it to make sure only eligible American citizens can vote, according to a new survey.

According to a poll conducted by two academic authors and published by The Washington Post, 52 percent of Republicans said they would back a postponement of the next election if Trump called for it.

If Trump and congressional Republicans proposed postponing the election to ensure only eligible citizens could vote, support from Republicans rises to 56 percent.

Pollsters found 47 percent of Republicans think Trump won the popular vote.

A majority of Republicans, 68 percent, also thinks millions of illegal immigrants voted in the presidential election and 73 percent think voter fraud happens somewhat or very often.

The poll was conducted from June 5 to 20 among 1,325 Americans. The survey focused on the 650 respondents who said they identified with or leaned toward the Republican Party.

Earlier this year, Trump earlier his Election Integrity Commission to investigate his claims of voter fraud in last year's presidential election.

Dozens of state election officials from both parties have rebuked Trump's claim that millions of illegal votes were cast during the 2016 presidential race.

When Obama was in; Republicans thought he'd be the end of the Republic. When Trump's Presidency comes to an end in 2024 we'll all still be here and just fine.

Some of us won't be here if the Republicans ever manage to repeal the Affordable Care Act.

Please. Socialism is no longer a dirty word and the Boomers are entering the expensive to continue twilight of life. It's all about the long game since Clinton for Single Payer and just another 8 year delay.

Common good remember....that wouldn't save lives. Repealing the ACA can be counted in even more than lives lost, in can be measured in lives shortened and is certainly aimed a one segment of the population.

Oh I'm not. Most civic minded Americans have been trying to ELIMINATE poverty for some time, Republican or Democrat , but If you are thinking about making it illegal for States to have poor people and as radical as that is I may be I'm all for it.

If you are trying to say that being poor shortens life expediency I'll agree and seeing as it says in the declaration of independence that "Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness" are "unalienable rights" you are probably right it is the states obligation to extend life as long as possible.

I don't think anyone would argue that driving is a human right. As far as I know, it's generally considered a privilege.

Alcohol kills thousands yearly directly or indirectly through traffic deaths. We need to ban it; unless you want people to die.

Pointed things kill thousands of people per year. We need to ban "getting it"; unless you want people to die.

(I don't have a deep point I'm just really into this. I can't help it I'm a liberal.

Again, we are talking about healthcare, what many believe to be a human right. It's in a completely different category from safety regulations. Over on the SawStop thread, I think you'd have a valid argument.

It won't happen, but it's still worrying that so many Republicans would do this. Would these same Republicans support delaying the next election if a Democrat was currently president?
Ankylosaur said @ 5:15pm GMT on 10th Aug

Scarborough: Republicans who would favor postponing election should hide faces in 'shame'

That's not all. This cult of Personality has Republicans believing all sorts of things that are provably false.

This is flat out retarded. Even if you thought that the voter roles were tainted does it really take that much time/effort to purge the rolls and re-enroll eligible voters?
mechanical contrivance said @ 1:19pm GMT on 11th Aug
It's not about cleaning up voter rolls. It's about keeping a Republican in the White House longer.
