Day 200 and Trump State TV is now on the air

quote [ Hey, everybody. I'm Kayleigh McEnany. Thank you for joining us as we provide the news of the week from Trump Tower here in New York. ]

Everyday I am more and more sure this administration will try to establish marshal law in the first step to end this democracy. We are just waiting for the Reichstag Fire

I don't think it will be successful, but there will be an overt effort and given Trump's base's blind loyalty it could get ugly...fast

Interesting - that's the setup they had in Cuba under Fidel Castro. I was stationed at GTMO some time ago. Since the base TV sucked, and was only on for about 6 or 7 hours, most everyone there tuned into Cuban TV, out of boredom (seriously; living on that base was a completely boring suck-hole). They had some TV shows on if you spoke Spanish, and, I incidentally found out that watching TV is also great way to polish up on learning a foreign language as well.

Anyway - instead of commercials, it was clips of Fidel telling everyone how it was gonna be. And they had a ton of Castro propaganda and other "the Fidel hour" sort of stuff. Kind of funny and surreal to see him on TV every day, big as life, twice as ugly, and always wearing those damn green fatigues and hat. I always pictured him stepping into a walk-in closet first in the morning with nothing but Kelly-Green fatigues and army boots as far as the eye could see in it.

I know it is not state sponsored, and on every channel, but interesting nonetheless that Trump would want to even put himself in such esteemed company as a penny-ante tin-pot dictator. Thought he had slightly higher standards.

Those are the people he admires most. Putin's high approval rating, No anti-anything demonstrators in Saudi Arabia, and Kim murdering his relatives to consolidate power shows so much initiative for a young guy.

Not sure I'd characterize Castro a penny-ante tin-pot dictator. Were you able to leave the base? It's a beautiful island and the people are wonderful.

I visited once (1999) while he was still alive and able to give speeches. I'd leave the hotel room when Castro started to speak on tv, and came back 6-8 hours later and he'd still be talking.

We never left the base. That's why being stationed there was so awful. It's only 45 square miles. The area on the back windward side of the base was a razor wire fence, and had the stretch around it had the honor at the time, of being designated as the most mined area in the world. Still don't know if it was to keep the Cubans out or the squids and jarheads in. The Cubans were smart - when the tide went out on side where the hospital was, they would walk over to the base hospital around the bay and get asylum.

This is just like Ford Nation on T.V. in Toronto fro one week while Rob Ford was around. - well except as it's national it's even more moronic.

Who needs press conferences when you've got twitter?
bbqkink said @ 11:35pm GMT on 7th Aug
Ya that scumball press keeps asking you questions...who needs that.

You can't have a scumball without a cumball.

It is alarming enough, and I couldn't help but draw a parallel.
