Politics engenders fierce loyalties on both sides of the isle, and strong passions amongst the sane, and the mentally unstable. As such, it is almost inevitable that things like this will happen, irrespective of the political stripe of the affected parties. Yet one cannot read this tread in good faith, and with a clear eye, and not see numerous comments that, while not defending this crime per se, seek to minimize, diminish, and rationalize it.
