First of all your premise is false.
"His funders did".
Trump got nominated on Bullshit and Chutzpah. He didn't spend shit. He got free mainstream media and dominated on social media.
He did get help in the general by Mercer( funded brietbart) and the RNC (Fox) and a lot of generic R's, who no matter what they had said about him got in line. But ignoring cancer is not a good plan.
"Still I'd rather focus on local politics and democrat (especially progressive) advances."
We ya all politics is local...Big one in Virginia tomorrow especially for folks like me who are interested on who will have power inside the DNC. Progressive vs. 3rd way Party loyalist, should be interesting.
The reason is that these sorts of things will decide how the resources will be used who will get the money and who will come and make a speech...that is how local races get won or lost.
We have a bit of a Governor problem here, and I have a Trumpite as a representative.
Oh a side note 538 has it...

But the race is too close to call."
