LOL- the guy was based north of Halifax, Canada..... pretty much my neighbourhood.
If you knew anything about how the Maritimes operates, this sort of Podunkery- storing sensitive passwords on sheets of paper, weird, unusual transactions, a single holder of passwords for everything, blah blah blah- is basically business as usual for out here. Once you get away from the cities and towns, it's basically wide open- there are literally fields of illegally grown cannabis dotting this province, and the shit is legal here. Some dude in a home office in the middle of Nowhere, Nova Scotia with legal pads of hand-written accounts and passwords running the largest crypto-currency in Canada and not having any sort of back-up plan doesn't surprise me at all.
